One of the best ways to reduce paper clutter and interruptions is to stop them from getting to you in the first place. You can do this via the paper method (below) or the web method http://www.dmaconsumers.org/index.html

To reduce the amount of unsolicited third class mail you receive, like flyers and catalogs click here for a letter you can print and send out.

All those pre-approved credit card and loan mailings driving you crazy? Do you know that banks buy your credit rating information from the credit reporting agencies? They have your name, address and your social security number, along with ratings of if your bills are paid on time and who you owe money to. If you've been denied credit within the last 60 days, you can contact them for a free copy of your report, otherwise it'll cost you $8.00.

If you prefer to do it over the phone, call Equifax & Experion & TransUnion (same number) at 888-567-8688. Send the following form to Equifax, one of the three major credit reporting agencies. They will send your information to the other two, Experion and TransUnion. Click here.

To reduce the number of live telephone sales calls you get, fill out and send this form or go to this website  http://www.nocallsplease.com

Remember, all three of these services take up to 90 days to take effect. However, this doesn't affect the mailing lists of individual companies. If you are getting catalogs from companies that you no longer deal with, call them on their order line phone number and have them remove you from their mailing lists. Most companies are happy to reduce the amount of unwanted mailings--catalogs are very expensive to produce and send. You'll be doing them a favor, not to mention reducing the amount of paper we all throw away.
